i just saw an old episode of later with jools holland in which k.d. lang makes some horrible attempt to cover leonard cohen’s “hallelujah”. i remember being pretty disappointed by the artists covering cohen for the i’m your man tribute concert, but none of them were as bad as this. beyond the fact that the minute of her performance i watched before changing the channel was certainly the worst minute of my week, i can’t figure out why she chose this cohen song to butcher. 50 million people have already covered this song and everyone of them sounds better than her. if you like the song and you want to play it live every once in a while, i guess that’s alright, but there is no need to go into a fucking studio and actually record and release this garbage. if you’ve been looking for something to ruin your day, you tube will help you out.

now that’s much better. it’s not the best cover ever, but its pretty good and there aren’t a million other people who’ve done it. hey… maybe the pixies are actually fans of cohen? i can’t forget either. but i remember what: how much k.d. lang sucks.
