st. vincent – bicycle

mp3: st. vincent – bicycle …. [buy actor]

got actor and the actor out of work / bicycle 7″ in the mail today (thanks for the early shipping, beggars). between the front and back covers of the lp and the cover of the 7″ you’ve got 3 giant shots of annie’s head… it’s an interesting choice, but i’m not knocking it…. she’s got a pretty fine looking head. what’s more interesting though is that unlike the pre-release version i’ve been listening to, or even the tracklisting on beggar’s website, the lp ends not with “the sequel” but “just the same but brand new”. “the sequel” is instead track six, closing out the album’s a-side. i’ve just put on the lp, so it’s too early to tell how that change might effect the flow of the album, but it’s worth noting.

you stole my bicycle
so i had to walk
twenty city blocks in the rain
what a shame

you took my tennis shoes
so i took the train
to avoid the rain
what a shame

you saw me on the street
you offered me a seat
then when i blinked
you were gone

I just got the CD and 7″ today, and track 6 of the CD is “Laughing with a Mouth of Blood”.
Odd that the LP is recorded in a different order?

yeah, the digital version also has the same tracklisting as the cd. not sure why the order on the lp is different. only thing i can think of is that by moving “the sequel” to the a side, both sides of the lp have roughly the same play time, just over 19 minutes.

I was wondering what the source of this MP3 was – did you rip the vinyl yourself, or was there a digital download code included? Thanks for providing the song, and in advance for considering my question.
