this is out tomorrow. and for once, the work of david berman is not compelling me to immediately empty my pockets… to purchase tickets to shows i have no means of attending, to preorder records the second they are announced, sometimes in multiple formats, to buy a backup t-shirt, in case something happens to the first one. as evidenced by that backup, i enjoy david’s drawings on the occasional joos swag… this one, in green, is almost certainly my favorite t-shirt of all time… but i’m not convinced i need a book of them. at a reasonable $10, there’s a good chance i’ll eventually pluck down the cash…. but it will likely be with hesitancy, more out of habit than anything. i guess if i was to have a point here, it’s that i hope this is not how david is planning to sustain himself.
