mp3: gary higgins – down on the farm

i’m really looking forward to checking out the new white house farmer’s market (at 810 vermont ave nw) today after work. since moving outside dc, i’ve been craving a farmer’s market that did not require a drive/metro trip to visit… so i was definitely happy to hear of this one opening up just 3 blocks from my work. my only complaint is the hours… i had hoped to be able to run over  here during lunch breaks, but since it doesn’t open until 3:00pm, i guess my shopping will have to wait until after work. small gripe though. will update later with details.

update: yeah, this is just what i was looking for. seemed like 10 maybe 12 stands… all the meats, cheeses, baked goods you could hope for, in addition to the produce. i was a little light on cash, so after a quick tour around the place, i managed to restrain myself to just one stand. picked up some nice squash, zucchini, eggplant and some basil. i’ll definitely be back next thursday though, prepared to do some serious damage.
