so i’ve just finished the third revision of my top 100 albums list — which to avoid confusion/arguments is a personal selection, not an attempt at a best of all time list — and to build some interest/excitement in the list beyond myself and the 1-2 other people that have traditionally cared about this i’ve decided to do a ten day countdown leading up to my number 1 album choice, vh1 best [whatever] of [decade] style.

some quick introductory notes — like i said this is the third annual revision. i originally started with a 3 album per artist limit, moved down to 2 last year and now just 1 this year, which is where it will stay. as a result, upwards of 20 albums were disqualified from the list this year… so obviously there have been an equal number of new artists introduced. a few of these are albums i fell really hard for over the past year (e.g. #94 + #97 below), but the majority have been waiting on my top 100 candidates list for a while.

i’ll include an mp3 for every album in the countdown. it will not necessarily be my favorite song from the album — in most cases it’s just way to hard to choose — but it will be a damn good song. that’s a guarantee.

at the end of the countdown i’ll post the full list, noting each album’s change in position from the year before and most likely also some very basic visual representation of the list showcasing the all important album art. anyone interested can check out volume 1 and volume 2 of my list from past years. and as always, thanks to alex from the idles for getting me into the top 100 list practice (his latest list is here).
