yeah i definitely thought about it, but disagree. a live album is a not a compilation as you say, but a distinct category of album, that allows an artist to capture an experience that they couldn’t in a studio and also an opportunity to rerecord songs as they have evolved throughout the years. many of the songs on stop making sense are my favorite versions of those songs — there’s so much more life in them. i think there’s a place for a live album on the list and also know that stop making sense has appeared on several “professional” best albums of all time lists, which do not include any compilations.

good to see marquee moon and melody of certain damaged lemons up there… but i have a big problem with stop making sense. i mean sure, byrne created stop making sense as a whole new theatrical project, but ultimately, it’s a “best of” compilation. if you can’t recognize any one TH albums for it’s own awesomeness (read remain in light, 77, fear of music, even the soundtrack for true stories) then i have a big problem with your list.
